Young at Art - October Lesson 1

For those of you that are new to Pennekamp, Young at Art is a wonderful program, completely run by volunteers, that brings art and art history into our children’s classrooms. Normally, a parent volunteer from each class serves as an art docent. That volunteer would attend workshops throughout the year to learn the monthly art lessons. They would then go to the classroom equipped with all the necessary supplies and teach the lesson to the class.

Due to the pandemic, the directors of Young at Art have created an online format which enables students and families to enjoy these art lessons together in the comfort and safety of their own homes. At the beginning of every month (with the exception of December) a new lesson will be available on the Young at Art website. Each lesson contains an instructional video, printables pertaining to that month's lesson, and a supply list.

Lessons have been designed to use materials you already have at home, but if you find you are in need of materials, do not worry! There are optional supplies listed, or there are links provided on each lesson page where you can purchase premade lesson packages directly from Young at Art or from a Young at Art Amazon shop.

Every teacher will be posting the lesson, with instructions, as an optional assignment in Google Classroom. Don't forget to share the finished masterpieces through the 'Share Gallery' link provided on the lesson's page! We can't wait to see the results!
