Pennekamp Read-a-Thon: September 22-October 6th
Attention all PK readers! Fill in an entry for every reading session starting on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22. Multiple entries in a single day are welcome. Each entry should be authorized with parent initials. Additional reading logs are available in class, the front office, or for download below.
Students earn a raffle ticket for every 80 minutes read!
Turn in reading logs to your teacher or the front office on MONDAY, OCTOBER 6, or email a picture of your log to [email protected].
Pages Bookstore gift cards will be given to the top reader in each grade at the morning meeting on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 8. There will also be a raffle for three additional gift cards for each grade. The more minutes you read, the more tickets you get in the raffle!
Super Literacy Quiz Bowl Kick-Off (grades 3-5 only)
The Super Literacy Quiz Bowl (SLQB) is a fun trivia game for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at Pennekamp that encourages reading and highlights great books. Students are given grade-level specific reading lists at the beginning of the Read-a-thon in September and are encouraged to read as many books as they can from their grade’s list since the questions are based on those books. The SLQB game days have been scheduled for the end of February and happen during the school day. Parents are encouraged to attend. Permission forms will be available in the library in December, parents MUST sign their child’s form if the child is to participate. Mock SLQB games will be played at Night at the Library, so be sure to try it out and see the fun in person!
