MBX Foundation is a tax-exempt organization and donates all proceeds from PACE classes to MBUSD in the form of grants supporting MBUSD facilities, athletics and extra-curricular activities.
Pennekamp students have a wide variety of before and after-school care and enrichment options. These opportunities offer varying degrees of structure, but all offer consistent qualified supervision, in a familiar and safe environment. Topics range from Lego building to choir, chess to golf, art, music… Almost anything that can help children expand their learning foundations. Take a look and see what’s right for your child.
MB/X Foundation, in partnership with the Manhattan Beach Unified School District, sponsors and operates the After School Enrichment Program at Pennekamp Elementary School (PACE). The goal of this program is to provide students with the opportunity to supplement and enrich their current educational experience in a familiar and safe environment. All classes are held at Pennekamp, with select enrollment available at other Manhattan Beach elementary schools.
A variety of enrichment classes are offered throughout the year. Program offerings vary from session to session, but typically include sports, fine and language arts, science, music, drama and STEM/STEAM curriculum. Classes are taught by professional instructors and certificated teachers. Some classes are taught by Mira Costa High School students under the supervision of MCHS teachers.
There are three sessions: Fall, Winter and Spring, with registration usually in September, December and March. Classes are available for Kindergarten through Grade 5. Registration information is distributed via flyer, the weekly “Dragon Flash” newsletter and on the Pennekamp website.
Students who are enrolled at EDP are welcome to join PACE classes.
